Frequently Asked Questions
About Our Boxes
We aim to choose rich, high quality literature, with wholesome values and an emphasis on good moral character. The stories we choose are meant to foster imagination with incredible story lines and unforgettable characters! While we do choose stories that sometimes cover hard situations, we send out a link to our secret parent page once our boxes ship that discloses any content that parents might want to be aware of before reading out loud.
The chapter book boxes are designed for children ages 6-12, however many older and younger children still enjoy listening to the read-alouds and participating in the book club activities. With each book box, we also include a picture book list that goes with the theme of the month, so younger listeners can engage in the book club with the family as well. Picture book boxes are recommended for children ages 3-6.
While the book club can be done independently, it is designed to be done together as a family in order to get the most out of the experience.
Each box has two craft kits with enough supplies for TWO kids to complete! (That's four individual crafts per box!) If you need craft kits for more than two children, than we suggest purchasing one of our Add-On Packs.
We have designed the subscription boxes to not contain religious content so that families from all backgrounds can enjoy them and families using public charter school funds are able to subscribe to them through their schools.
We, the creators of The Land of Storybooks, are followers of Christ, and we do recommend Christian books and content on social media and our website apart from the subscription boxes. We have separate book guides available for purchase for people that would like to study literature from a gospel centered perspective. If we are selling something that is distinctly Christan, we will state it in the product description.
The books we choose, as well as everything else that we do, will always reflect our values and worldview as Christians.
No! While many homeschooling families love using our boxes, we also have several private and public schooling families as well! Our boxes are a great fit for any type of schooling!
Shipping and Orders
We announce the upcoming month's book on the 26th of every month via email and social media! You have between the 26th and the 4th to decide if you want to skip the upcoming month's box before your subscription gets renewed on the 5th.
For example: We will announce the January box on November 26th. Customers will have between 11/26-12/04 to skip or cancel before they get renewed on 12/05 for the January box.
We understand this might happen occasionally. If you do not wish to re-read the book, we recommend enjoying the crafts and activities in the guide by themselves! While they are designed to tie in with the book theme, your kids are sure to have a blast with or without the book. We also suggest saving the box for a later date, or gifting the book to a friend!
We do one bulk shipment on or around the first of every month.
New subscriptions work on a pre-order basis, with a cut off date for the upcoming month's box occurring on the 25th. This means that orders placed by the 25th of the month will be shipped out on the 1st of the upcoming month, while orders placed after the 25th will receive their first box the following month, (a wait time of about four to five weeks).
- E.g. A first time order placed on March 25th, will be shipped out April 1st. A first time order placed March 26th, will be placed in the next shipping batch and shipped out May 1st.
Shipments are sent via USPS Priority Mail and usually take 2-5 days to arrive. Delays may occur around holidays or due to the increased shipments as a result of COVID.
We offer free shipping on all our boxes and add-on packs!
Unfortuneately we are not able to offer shipping outside the U.S.
The Chapter and Picture Books are sent out on alternating months. They are separate subscriptions. If you only want to subscribe to one, you will get a box every other month. If you want to subscribe to both, you will get a box every month, (one month chapter, the next picture.)
Chapter Book Boxes ship out:
January, March, May, July, September, November
Picture Book Boxes ship out:
February, April, June, August, October, December
Unfortunately we do not accept returns or refunds on boxes. If an item is damaged, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org with a photo of the damaged item.
We're sorry to see you go. Subscriptions must be cancelled by 11:59PM PST on the 4th of each month to avoid being billed for the next month's box. To do this you can login into your customer account. If you have any problems, please contact us at email@example.com.
When you sign up for The Land of Storybooks, you will be billed for the total of whichever subscription plan you've chosen (1, 3, or 6 months.). At the end of your subscription term, your subscription will automatically renew for the same term unless you've cancelled. Re-billing occurs on the 5th of each month.
Yes! You can skip the next box by logging into your customer account. Please make sure to skip the next month's box by the 4th of the month, otherwise you will be charged automatically for it on the 5th. We do offer a three day grace period if you have forgotten to skip your box by the 5th, however we cannot skip after that, because we base our inventory orders for the next box on the renewals that go through.
You have until the 25th of every month to subscribe to get the next month's box.
For example, if it is 11/25, you can subscribe to get the December box. However, between 11/26-12/25 all new orders will go into the January shipment batch.
Once the cutoff date ends, sales for that box close. It will only be available as single purchase if there are any left overs.
We do! To pay with a PO, have your school contact email us directly at firstname.lastname@example.org to set up billing and place your order.
